Parish Seminar Strengthens Migrant Ministry in the Diocese

PARISH SEMINAR STRENGTHENS MIGRANT MINISTRY IN THE DIOCESE

The Pastoral Care for Families of Migrants and Itinerant People of Novaliches (PAMINOVA) of the Diocese of Novaliches successfully conducted the Parish Seminar Awareness on the Life of Migrants Overseas (PSALMO), drawing 92 participants from the Vicariates of Our Lady of Lourdes and Sto. Niño.

Held to establish the Migrants Ministry in the eleven parishes comprising these Vicariates, the seminar served as an avenue for deepening understanding of the migration phenomenon and the Church’s pastoral response.

Atty. Tom Prado of PAMINOVA led the discussions on the Church’s Social Teachings on Migration as well as a Migration Situationer highlighting the social impact on families and communities. He underscored the Church’s moral imperative to accompany migrants and uphold their dignity wherever they are.

Bro. Eugine Galvo, Lay Coordinator of PAMINOVA, presented the Diocesan Programs for Migrants and Itinerant People—including pastoral care for families left behind—and provided practical guidance on forming Parish Migrant Ministries to better serve the faithful.

Representing the Quezon City Government, Mr. Federico Ripalda III, Migrant Officer of the Public Employment Services Office (PESO), shared available local‑government services for migrants and their families, emphasizing the importance of collaboration between the Church and civil institutions to address migration‑related challenges.

PAMINOVA, under the leadership of its Priest Coordinator Rev. Fr. Leonides T. Laguilles, remains committed to building a Church that listens to, journeys with, and advocates for migrant families. The seminar is part of the Diocese’s broader pastoral initiative to strengthen community‑based support systems for overseas workers and their loved ones.
