Bound by Faith, Not by Walls: A Synergy of Healing and Hope

Synergy work by Missio Amare’s Migranti and Isaiah 61:1

One shared challenge faced by OFW migrant workers and Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) is separation from their families – whether by duty or circumstance. While OFWs leave loved ones behind to earn a living abroad, PDLs are confined within cells, longing for connection and reconciliation.

Missio Amare’s twin ministries: Migranti and the Isaiah 61:1, a prison ministry both strive to support those left behind through value formation programs and spiritual renewal. One vital pathway they offer is the Christian Life Program (CLP), inviting both migrants and PDLs to rediscover their place in a larger, faith-based community – Couples for Christ.

That spirit came to life on July 26 at the BJMP facility in Cainta, where 28 PDLs, both men and women, participated in a session titled “Growing in the Spirit,” facilitated by Missio Amare Migranti’s Bro Frankie Naranjilla. The energy in the room was palpable. Participants were engaged, eager to share their stories, and open to spiritual growth. Also present were Bro Rudy and Sis Paz Jimenez, East A Missio Amare Heads, and Bro Edwin Pastrofide, Migranti Coordinator for East A. Their support underscored a powerful message: healing happens not only through service, but through shared stories and spiritual kinship.
